How to use the Sign & Fill PDF
- 1Drop your PDF into the box.
- 2Choose Signature (draw, type or upload), Text, Date or Tick, then click on the page where it belongs. Drag to move and use the blue dot to resize.
- 3If the PDF has form fields, fill them in the panel above the pages. Then click Download.
Is a signature added this way legally valid?
In most countries, including the US (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK, Canada, Australia and the EU (eIDAS), a simple electronic signature like a drawn or typed signature is legally valid for most everyday documents such as leases, job offers, invoices, consent forms and tax forms like the W-9.
Some documents need more: wills, deeds, court papers and certain government forms may require a handwritten signature, a witness, a notary or a certified digital signature. If you're unsure, check with the organisation that asked for the document.
Private by design
Signing services usually upload your contract and signature to their servers. Here the PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely inside your browser, so confidential documents and your signature never leave your device.
Tips
- Signing a scanned paper document? Use Text to fill the blanks and Tick for checkboxes.
- For forms with real fillable fields, fill them in the panel and keep "lock the fields" on before sending, so nobody can change your answers.
- Uploading a photo of your signature? Sign with a dark pen on white paper; the white background is removed automatically.
- Need to send it by email? Compress the signed PDF afterwards if it is large.

Is it free?

Is my document uploaded?
No. The PDF and your signature stay in your browser and are never sent to a server.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
PDFs that require a password to open can't be edited here. Remove the password in your PDF reader first (open it and save or print a copy), then sign the copy.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. You can draw your signature with your finger, place it with a tap and drag it into position.
