How to use the HEIC to JPG
- 1Drop your .HEIC or .HEIF photos into the box.
- 2Adjust the quality if you like (90% is excellent).
- 3Download your JPG files individually or all at once.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It keeps high quality at about half the size of JPG, but many Windows PCs, websites and older apps cannot open it. Converting to JPG makes your photos universally compatible.
Private conversion
Your photos can contain personal moments and location data. This converter decodes HEIC directly in your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded to a server.
HEIC vs JPG at a glance
| HEIC | JPG | |
|---|---|---|
| File size | About half of JPG | Larger |
| Compatibility | Apple devices, newer Windows with extensions | Everything |
| Transparency & 16-bit color | Supported | No |
| Best for | Storing photos on iPhone | Sharing, uploading, printing |
Converting on iPhone and Windows without software
On an iPhone, photos shared by email or AirDrop to non-Apple devices are often converted automatically. On Windows, the free HEIF Image Extensions can open HEIC files, but many websites and older programs still reject them. Converting here works on any device without installing anything.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
At 90% quality the difference is not visible. JPG files will be larger than the HEIC originals because JPG compression is less efficient.
How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose 'Most Compatible'. New photos will then be saved as JPG.
Why does the first conversion take a moment?
The HEIC decoder (about 3 MB) is downloaded once when you add your first photo. After that conversions are fast.
