How to use the Passport Ranking
- 1Scroll the ranking or search for a country.
- 2Click a passport to see its full list of destinations.
- 3Use Compare Passports to see two passports side by side.
How the ranking works
Each passport scores one point for every destination its holders can visit visa-free, with a visa on arrival, or with an eTA (electronic travel authorization). Passports with the same score share a rank. e-Visas and visas required in advance do not count.

What changes a passport's rank
Rankings move when countries sign visa-waiver deals, introduce electronic travel authorisations or tighten rules after overstays. Small changes are common every year; big jumps usually follow an agreement with the Schengen Area, the UK or the US, because each opens many destinations or a very popular one.
