Daylight saving time
Many countries move clocks forward in spring and back in autumn, on different dates. This converter uses your browser's built-in time zone database, so differences are correct for the date you choose.

When clocks change
The US and Canada move clocks forward on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November. The UK and EU change on the last Sunday in March and October. For a few weeks each spring and autumn, the gap between New York and London is 4 hours instead of the usual 5, a common cause of missed meetings.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the time difference change during the year?
Because countries switch to daylight saving time on different dates (and many never do). Pick the exact date to get the right difference.
What is the best time for a meeting between the US and Europe?
Late morning on the US East Coast works best: 10:00–11:00 in New York is 15:00–16:00 in London and 16:00–17:00 in Berlin. West Coast calls are only practical early in the morning.
