How age is calculated
Age is counted in completed years, then completed months, then remaining days, the same way it is used on official forms. Leap years are handled automatically, and people born on February 29 have their birthday counted on February 28 in non-leap years.
Your age in other units
Age calculators count full years, months and days, but the totals are fun too: someone born on 1 January 2000 had lived 9,786 days by 17 October 2026, about 1,398 weeks or 234,864 hours.
Leap years are handled automatically. If you were born on 29 February, your birthday is counted on 28 February in non-leap years for legal purposes in many countries, while others use 1 March.

Frequently asked questions
Can I calculate age on a specific date?
Yes. Change the 'Age on' date to any past or future date, for example to check eligibility on an application deadline.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
How do I calculate age in Excel?
Use =DATEDIF(A1, TODAY(), "Y") for full years, "YM" for the remaining months and "MD" for the remaining days.
Why do Korean and Western ages differ?
Traditional Korean age counted a baby as 1 at birth and added a year every New Year. South Korea officially switched to the international system in June 2023.
