How to use the QR Code Generator
- 1Choose what the QR code should contain: a link, text, Wi-Fi, email or phone.
- 2Fill in the details; the code updates live.
- 3Pick colours and size, then download as PNG or SVG.
Static QR codes never expire
Many 'free' QR generators create dynamic codes that redirect through their servers and stop working when a trial ends. The codes made here are static: the content is stored inside the QR pattern itself, so they keep working forever and do not track your users.
Printing tips
Keep strong contrast (dark code on a light background), leave a quiet margin around the code, and print it at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 × 0.8 in). Use SVG for print so it stays sharp at any size. Always test-scan before printing in bulk.
QR code size and error correction
| Error correction | Damage it survives | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| L | ~7% | Clean digital screens |
| M | ~15% | Most print uses (default) |
| Q | ~25% | Outdoor and packaging |
| H | ~30% | Adding a logo over the code |
Rule of thumb for printing
The scanning distance is roughly 10 times the code's width: a 2 cm code scans from about 20 cm, while a poster scanned from 2 metres needs a code about 20 cm wide.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use these QR codes commercially?
Yes. The codes are yours to use anywhere, including on products, menus, flyers and packaging.
How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?
Choose 'Wi-Fi', enter your network name and password and select the security type. Guests can scan it to join without typing the password.
Can I change the link after printing?
Not with a static code. The link is part of the pattern itself. If you need to change it later, point the code at a page you control and update that page.
